Conference on Enterprise Portals

I recently gave a keynote presentation at a conference on Enterprise Portals, organized by IIR. My topic was Portals of the Future and I claimed, among other things, that Web 2.0 software would become an integral part of corporate information management. In this context, I also asked the participants whether they have accounts on social networking sites, e.g. Facebook of MySpace. It was a real surprise, when only 2 or 3 participants raised their hands. I had expected a considerably higher diffusion.

I also recommended to set up a governance structure for current and future portal initiatives and asked, whether this or a general governance already existed. Again, very few hands were raised. It seems that there is a lot of work to do.
